Curriculum
At Redmarley Primary Academy, we aim that all children leave us with a love of learning, and a respect and knowledge of the world around them. We plan a curriculum designed to encourage a love of reading, designed creatively through high quality texts which we then link to our English teaching and foundation subjects where possible. As a small school, it is important that our children are given the opportunities to learn about wider global and local issues, and we try to draw upon these wherever possible in our teaching and planning.
We know that each child and class is different, and we aim to encourage this individuality by providing flexibility and challenge in our curriculum, whilst ensuring children learn key skills within different subjects. Alongside learning key skills, we ensure children have the opportunity to reflect upon our core Christian values, which are at the heart of everything we do. The children are given wide opportunities to explore these, not only within worship, but through linking our half-termly books to a Christian Value each half term.
We have high expectations of the children we teach, and it is our intention that all children are challenged and given the opportunity to reach their full potential during their time with us. We do this through careful monitoring of progress using various methods, which enable us to adapt teaching based on the children’s needs. Our learners develop independence and pride in their achievements, and we take time to celebrate these at every opportunity.

Below you can see our EYFS long term plan. This looks a little different to that of the other classes, as planning very much draws upon the interests and gaps in understanding of the current class each year. The overview is followed, but the books chosen will be adapted to suit the class.
